The chocolate block

You have to try this wine!!!!

The Chocolate Block, made at boekenhoutskloof wine estate in Franschoek is a fabulous red, that I had the privilege of tasting for the first time this past weekend. The Chocolate Block is a blend, with Syrah being the dominat varietal at 67%. The wine goes for about R150 at the farm and R165 from the wine shop in Franschhoek. Each delicious mouthful is worth every penny.

The other range they do is the well-known Porcupine Ridge. I enjoy their Syrah, which goes for about R50 in the bottle stores.

Also noteworthy is that the boekenhoutskloof vineyards are organic.

The estate is only open for tastings Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. (closed weekends and public holidays)
